Homerun Superhero Me: A community arts exhibition featuring the work of five children – Alfred Goh, Brandvan Yang, Maryangelly Jayabahan, Nur Shahanis Binte Johar and Raden Rauf Bin Radin Padli, who share their perspectives on childhood to mark the end of their six-year journey with Superhero Me. Set in two rental flat units at Blk 55, the kids hosted the public on guided tours over 10 weekends in 2020.

Sustainability - this is a term that has been repeated ad nauseam especially in the social and environmental sector. The phrase “to sustain” may evoke mixed feelings though one may argue that it comes with positive connotations. Our founding director Huijia shares how this phrase makes her think of the endless effort that a person, or a community, would put in just to maintain the status quo and if the status quo is indeed good enough.

2020 has been a tough year on all of us but also proved to be one where community support, perseverance and adaptability to change emerged stronger than ever. Our Founding Director Huijia, reflects on Skillseed’s journey in 2020 and our hopes for the new year to come.

Our founding director, Huijia, shares her thoughts after she was invited by Nexus to participate in the first small-group, in-person engagement session with Senior Minister of State for Defence and Manpower, Mr Zaqy Mohamad on the topic of Total Defence for a Future Singapore.

At Skillseed, we are a small and cozy team. As an embodiment of how we value quality over quantity, we are very intentional about every member that we bring into our work family. We are grateful that over the years, we’ve had many excellent candidates express interest to join us. Our founding director, Huijia shares how we’ve been able to attract and retain team members despite being comparatively unknown and small in size based on some reflections from our recent experiences.

ABCD is simply a way of seeing - imagine a cup that is not just half full or half empty but instead full of water and air molecules. Let’s discover gifts and assets within ourselves before discovering those within our communities and the environment.
