“Hope that through love and listening, we can help others in need.”
A mother of 7 and the main caregiver for her daughter with special needs, Siti has been an Ang Mo Kio resident since 2009. Siti strongly believes in developing community spirit to ensure that everyone can look out for each other and that no one gets left behind.
Through her day to day experiences in the neighbourhood, Siti has identified various needs in the community and hence started her own initiatives to empower and support her fellow residents. After discovering that youths in her neighbourhood lacked a safe space to be meaningfully engaged, Siti started a football club and imparts values to the youths through their training sessions. Additionally, she frequently organises donation drives to ensure that residents have access to essential goods for their daily needs. Working with residents from all walks of life, Siti’s efforts have touched the lives of many across her neighbourhood.
Siti is passionate about bringing people together and ensuring that people can be empowered through access to information and support. Her love for connecting with others has also encouraged her to pick up various languages, further enabling her to reach out and befriend a greater pool of neighbours and lend a helping hand where needed. She finds joy in giving back to the community and hopes to encourage more people to get involved so that we can create stronger support systems and strengthen our community spirit.
