Our ABCD Community of Practice member, Roger shares his reflections and thoughts about our inaugural ABCD Assembly!

2020 has been a tough year on all of us but also proved to be one where community support, perseverance and adaptability to change emerged stronger than ever. Our Founding Director Huijia, reflects on Skillseed’s journey in 2020 and our hopes for the new year to come.

Though the fundamental understanding of CSR is consistent across the world, organisations differ on the reasons why they do CSR and how they carry out their CSR initiatives. At Skillseed, we believe that there is a kernel for positive impact within every organisation; not just to do no harm through our business actions, but also to do good well while managing our finances. As such, we’ve had the privilege to partner with GIC and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in supporting their CSR programmes, and we wanted to hear them share their success stories behind implementing these programmes!

Our founding director, Huijia, shares her thoughts after she was invited by Nexus to participate in the first small-group, in-person engagement session with Senior Minister of State for Defence and Manpower, Mr Zaqy Mohamad on the topic of Total Defence for a Future Singapore.

At Skillseed, we are a small and cozy team. As an embodiment of how we value quality over quantity, we are very intentional about every member that we bring into our work family. We are grateful that over the years, we’ve had many excellent candidates express interest to join us. Our founding director, Huijia shares how we’ve been able to attract and retain team members despite being comparatively unknown and small in size based on some reflections from our recent experiences.

ABCD is simply a way of seeing - imagine a cup that is not just half full or half empty but instead full of water and air molecules. Let’s discover gifts and assets within ourselves before discovering those within our communities and the environment.

Sitting in a classroom listening to the monotonous drone of a lecturer isn’t appealing to most of us. Unfortunately, that’s the image we often have in mind when it comes to learning. But, it doesn’t have to be this way - with experiential learning!
